Used Office Furniture: Many Choices

September 19th, 2008
by Jerry Magnum

The consumer has available to them many different types of office furniture. The purchaser can develop quite a headache if they do not have a set ideal in mind before setting out to create the perfect office. The professional with not a lot of time for research can take advantage of a concise list of the types.

The style of the desk needed is the beginning of the decision making for the purchaser’s perfect office. After the desk has been chosen, the other items needed for the office fall into place easily. Modern/contemporary, modular and simple are the different types of desk available

The modern/contemporary desks have become less artistic and more functional as they have been designed more for space saving rather than visual pleasure. The modular desk is not simply a desk but a workspace with many sections for convenience. The simple desk is just a desk with no frills but still elegant and professional.

If the office is a place where a tremendous amount of work is done and the purchaser needs all the essentials in one spot, the modular desks are the best choice. Modular desks have cabinets and filing drawers attached in varying spots. These desks are convenient while still professional and stylish.

Discussing further operations or signing paychecks are actions that need only a simple desk. With no frills or additional parts, the simple desk is good for a smaller, less used office. With a simple desk, the additional necessary accessories must be purchased separately.

A modern/contemporary style desk would be best for an office that needs to exude a professional or authoritative feel. Seemingly more powerful than other desks, this type is often larger. This type of desk is not as showy as modular desks, therefore the attached accessories, such as cabinets, are few.

The type of material used for the desks mentioned varies. The more expensive desks are made of solid woods like maple, cherry or oak. Lighter materials such as melamine laminate surfaces and aluminum make the cheaper desks.

For a desk that is sturdier for long-term use, choose a wooden desk. If used within the proper specifications designed for them, the desks made of the lighter material, like cubicles, can also be sturdy. As long as they are used properly, any desk will last through the tests of time.

The type of desk chosen stipulates what types of accessories are purchased. The only real accessory needed for a modular desk is the office chair. Purchasing extra cabinets and storage units is necessary for other types of desks.

The type of office chair that should be purchased is based upon ergonomics. The fundamentals of comfort and productivity are ergonomics. The productivity suffers if the office chair does not promote a stress-free body.

These many different aspects of office furniture create a difficult decision when determining which furniture should be bought. This decision can be made simpler just by knowing what is available and what is needed. Finding the right office furniture depends on what type of office the consumer wants or needs.

Organic Choices For Your Green Lifestyle

by Marlene Affeld

More and more environmentally concious people are choosing to avoid the risk of chemical contamination of their bodies, families and homes. Fortunately, solutions for addressing change exist and are within easy access. Choosing eco-friendly alternatives allows us to live a natural, green lifestyle.

The benefits of organic bedding, choosing organic foods and wearing organic apparel are numerous.

Organic Foods

The Organic Food Association advises: It’s common sense; organic food is good food. Good to eat, good for the environment, good for the small-scale farmers and farm workers who produce it.

Organic farming is all about health and wellness. To assure optimum health and resistance against diseases, the natural balance in our bodies and in the environment must be maintained. The application of artificial chemical pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, fertilizers, drugs and genetic interfere with this delicate balance; with unknown and often harmful consequences! Organic farming impacts on much more than what can be tasted or seen.

Over the last fifty years, commercial farmers have, of necessity, continued to increase the amount of these hazardous applications. Cereal crops are sprayed as many as 8 times during the growing season. Many fruit and vegetable harvests have been sprayed 10 or 15 times. After harvesting the spraying process is repeated to retard grow of bacteria during storage and transport. Over spraying of fruit and vegetable crops destroys natural bacteria, leaving the plants increasingly vulnerable to attack from unwelcome pests or disease. Insecticides and fungicides are then required to fight off infestation and decay. However, these pests rather quickly become immune to the chemicals applied and their population increases rapidly. More powerful and increasingly toxic chemicals are then applied.

Organic certification is the consumers assurance that products have adhered to stringent standards and have been grown and/or handled according to rigid regulations without contamination from carcinogenic pesticides, fertilizers, human waste or sewage sludge. Certification attests that the product was processed without ionizing radiation or artificial color or food additives. Organic or chemically manipulated, which would you rather put in your body? We are what we eat. When our diet is built upon natural organic choices we are providing our bodies optimum food, produced in optimum conditions. Organically raised vegetables and fruit provide more minerals and nutrients than commercially grown produce and are more intensely endowed with color, scent and flavor; they certainly taste better!

Organic meat is the only meat that guarantees that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) have not been used at any stage of growth production. Certified organic meats are produced from animals that have been reared humanely and feed on certified organic pastures and feeds

Organics And The Environment

The USDA estimates that within the next ten years over half of all Americas farm products will come from only 1% of the farms. The EPA also states that commercial agriculture is accountable for 70% of the pollution in our country’s rivers and streams. Small scale organic farmers finance innovative and far reaching research designed to reduce agricultures impact on the environment. They maintain bio diversity by planting heirloom varieties of plants and gleaning seeds for future crops. The loss of a substanial variety of species is one of the worlds most pressing environmental concerns. The good news is that many organic farmers and gardeners have been harvesting, preserving seeds and growing unusual and unique varieties for decades.

Organic farming methods naturally enrich the soil with manure and compost. Well balanced soils product healthy, strong plants, nourishing for both people and animals. Organic agriculture can be a lifeline for small farms as it offers an alternative market where sellers can receive fair and equatable prices for their crops. Organic farming may be one of the last ways to assure the survival of both our ecosystems and our rural farming communities .

Conventional farming methods endanger farm workers and their families. Scientific studies confirms chemical related health problems iincluding cancer, birth defects, memory loss, paralysis and death. Unsecured storage, faulty application methods and unsafe handling and transportation procedures are not at all uncommon and often lead to tragic mishaps. As insects and diseases develop resistance, farmers desperate to maintain or increase crop yields often resort to additional applications of expensive and stronger chemical products. Facing rising costs, depleted fields and contaminated ground water, many small farmers have been forced to abandon their livelihood.

Organic farming is safer and healthier for farm workers, but also promotes just compensation in the supply chain. Organic farming provides a viable and socially acceptable alternative to large-scale farming and the accompanying dependence on government crop subsidies. Support of the small organic farmer supports Americas economy.

Organic production substantially reduces health risks. Many EPA-approved pesticides were registered and approved prior to extensive research that linked these hazarous chemicals to cancer and other significant medical problems. Crop dusting has often resulted in drifts of toxic pesticides and herbicides from fields to residential areas.

Organic agriculture is one of the best ways to prevent more of these chemicals from contaminating the ecosystem. An increasing body of research indicates that chemical contaminants are considerably more prevalent in the foods we eat, in our bodies and in the environment than we previously believed.

By choosing organic products we lessen this toxic burden. Organic farmers regularly rotate crops and plant cover crops to combat weeds, nutrient leaching and erosion. “Soil is the foundation of the food chain”. The focus of organic farming is to use methods that build and maintain healthy, sustainable soils.

Organic Skin Care And Personal Products

Skin care, personal care and cosmetics are the least regulated products under the US Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Be it is soap, moisturizers or deodorants, skin care products are an essential part of our daily lives. Do we understand what these choices actually contain and what we are forcing our skin to absorb?

Have you ever suffered from itchy, stinging or burning skin? Chances are that your skin absorbed irritants and chemicals from your skin care products. The skin absorbs ingredients in all the products that come in contact with our skin. Consider nicotine or HRT patches. They rely completely on skin absorption.

As parents we are concerned for the well being of our children. We tenderly comfort and bathe them with a wide range of products. These include soaps, shampoos, creams and lotions, many of which are applied to babys delicate skin several times a day. The skin is the largest organ of the body and the skin of an infant can be up to 100 times more sensitive and receptive to toxic chemicals and irritating ingredients that the skin of an adult.

Without been aware, parents put their babies at risk daily. Did you know that applying baby powder to your babys skin may pose a cancer risk later in life? The principle ingredient in many baby powders is talc, which several studies have confirmed as a known carcinogenic.

Lanolin is a featured ingredient in many skin care products. When processed from organically raised sheep, lanolin is a wonderful healing balm. The danger lies in non organic lanolin that has been acquired from sheep that were dipped or sprayed for lice with chemical pesticides that are contaminated with carcinogenic ingredients such as DDT, dieldrin or lindane. The residue of these toxic chemicals remains in the processed lanolin and can cause severe reactions and long lasting health concerns.

Chemical free and all natural, organic products offer eco-friendly options that eliminate these dangers. You can avoid these and similar safely risks by using only certified organic products formulated from natural sources such as plants, fruits, vegetables and flowers. These products to do not contain synthetic chemicals such as lauryl sulphate, phthales, parabens, artificial fragrances or dyes.

Organic Textiles

By the end of 2008, the sale of organic textiles worldwide is expected to exceed $3 billion. The global demand for organic textiles is increasing in response to consumer demand. Organic production takes more time, requires more skills and knowledge, and for now, costs somewhat more. However it is worth it. Organic materials do not factor in any hidden costs to the environment.

Choose Eco Wise Products! Choose Organic!

Consumption and use of green technologies is all about meeting the challenges and choices we face if we are to enjoy a sustainable quality of life within the limited resources of our world. If we become passionate about sustainability, we can make the planet a cleaner and healthier place for all of us to habitat.

Do you wish to live a lifestyle that protects future generations? Do you want to to live in the greenest, healthiest environment possible with a conscience, respect and appreciation for the earth that sustains us? The quality of life for future generations is dependent on the choices we make today!

Polls reflect that about a fourth of the US adult population has a profound sense of environmental enlightenment and social responsibility. Almost half of us will buy organic and make earth friendly choices in many aspects of our daily living. Consumer awareness and education are a powerful force for change.

The consumption of organically grown products has increased by 20 per cent over the last year alone. Organic alternatives are readily available and the trend is escalating. Sustainability should be within everyone?s reach. Our choices matter and have a long term global impact. Let us choose wisely!

Used Office Furniture: It helps To Be Frugal

August 19th, 2008
by Big Cube

The office of any person needs to be situated to the perfect degree that will help that person reach the maximum level of efficiency. The best way to achieve this is to have the best office furniture available. From the comfort of the chair to the usefulness of the desk, every aspect of an office will lift the person’s work success higher.

The desk chair is a key to getting the work done. If the chair is not the most comfortable and convenient chair, the work will suffer. The ability to sit in the chair for eight hours straight is the most important part of creating the perfect office.

A professional yet economical office is the best for the person who works from home. This office needs a chair with sturdy armrests and the capability of movement. The smaller desks, which have multiple sections, is the best choice of the in-home office.

These two characteristics are needed because the person who works at home is multitasking more than those who work in office buildings. Having to be able to take care of the children and work at the same time is a task that should be rewarded by a comfortable chair. The armrests are for those contemplative moments when a person has been called upon by a child.

To not allow the at-home job to completely take over the home, the desk needs multiple sections for the sole purpose of keeping the office space to a minimum. Spaces are needed for filing, to-do lists, and hidden snacks for bribing the children. Those who have chosen to work from home to be near the children will need such things that pertain to the attendance of the children.

Office building environments have popularized the cubicle. The thought of people not wanting to spend their lives in a cubicle has been a long standing joke. Since then, cubicles have come a long way.

The cubicle used to be just three half-sized walls that might fall over if the wind is blowing. Now they can be beautifully crafted desks with wooden walls that makes them resemble solitary desks. The space-saving aspect of the cubicle allows for more employees for better distribution of work.

The efficiency and production of the employees is directly affected by the comfort level of the office furniture. The employee will get distracted from their work in looking for comfort if the office is not providing that for them. Ergonomic requirements must be met by the office chair.

The height, softness and movement of an office chair are extremely important to the ergonomics of the human body. If the office chair is too high or too low, the employee will not be able to work for very long due to stretching to reach the keyboard. If the chair is not soft and movable, the employee will need to stand much sooner than their normal eight hours.

Many reoccurring injuries caused by physical fatigue are caused from not having the proper office furniture. Carpal tunnel syndrome has been found to be caused by the improper placement of the keyboard. Headaches and migraines have been caused by straining to look at a monitor that is not in the right place all day.

The proper office furniture will create the environment needed for efficient work. The better the office feels the more work that will be done daily. If the person who uses office furniture is not happy, the work will not be satisfactory.

GCI Green Building

August 5th, 2008
by R. Michael Richmond

What is the effect of the Green Cleaning movement on the janitorial industry? The facts are clean that the cleaning and janitorial world is in transition, and it will be forever changed to what will come to be known as the Green Janitorial era. How people transition to this new status will differ, and there will be those who try to ignore it until the Green practice is literally forced on them by mandate.

What will drive this movement is the demand for Green offices and Green buildings. One interesting example is the state of Florida that passed a ruling that withheld state business from any hotel that did not qualify as a Green hotel. The affect was immediate and profound as the state is a significant part of Florida hotel revenue.

The Green School Act is yet another illustration of the power of the Green movement on business. New York and Illinois have already passed the Green School Act, and other states are sure to follow. In the state of New York, letters are going out telling all building owners that they have a limited time to get ready for new Green mandates in the city. We find that cities and states are anxious to pass rules and mandates requiring businesses to conform to Green standards.

You already know that Bill Clinton signed Executive Order 13101 that required all government agencies and building to install Green products and services. George W Bush signed another executive order strengthening Green requirements in government facilities. Already, cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Dallas, and Fort Lauderdale are promoting their cities as “Green Cities” asking all companies and corporations to “Go Green.” You can easily see why knowledgeable people are predicting that the Green market will take over all businesses in the next two years.

The common practice is for janitorial services to add a few Green products to their janitorial cart, pick up some HEPA vacuums, and to declare themselves a Green Janitorial service. This is a token effort that will become a moot point as we reach a point of “Green Equalization.” This means that all services will have Green products and there will be little difference between the general competition.

Green clean training and certification is the only way to prove which service is Green and which is pretending to be Green. Green Clean Institute is the best and most reliable source for Green Clean training and certification offering a federal trademark program and a national status recognized by Dun and Bradstreet. To understand the concept of certification, it is important that a credible third party establish a standard and a course of study to attain the listed certification. This is why self-appointed Green firms are ineffective. There is no standardization, and private claims can be readily compromised by those seeking only to use it in a competitive manner.

Green Seal certifies products, but Green Clean Institute certifies janitorial services. If your company is “Going Green,” you will want to look into the GCI Green Building program. You should also require that your janitorial/cleaning service become Green Clean certified as well. Frankly, there is no substitute for the quality, training, support, and certification of Green Clean Institute. As the largest certification organization for janitorial services, Green Clean Institute is the best resource for Green Business.

It is important to remember that Green is not a synonym for environmentalism. Green is most correctly understood as the healthy status of a building and the concern for the health of the people who work or living in that building. There is confusion from programs like LEED that Green Buildings must have Green roofs, energy and water conservation programs, and access to public transportation. This is a nice addition, but these items are not truly about Green buildings. A Green Building according to the Green Clean Institute deals primarily with the indoor air quality and the issues affecting the health of the people in that building.

Bottled Water Is An Environmental Disaster

August 1st, 2008
by Marlene Affeld

Do you wish to live in a way that protects our childrens future? Do you want to live in the greenest world possible with a conscience, respect and appreciation for the environment?

Many Americans have a strong sense of environmental and social responsibility. We try to make environmentally well advised choices in many aspects of our daily living, yet we ignore one of the major contributors to the endangered state of the planet.

Worldwide in excess of one billion people do not have a pure source of clean drinking water, this is in excess of 1/6 of the world citizens, yet we, as Americans, waste billions of dollars yearly for the convenience of drinking from a plastic bottle instead of a water tap.

1.5 million tons of plastic are consumed to bottle water annually. It takes in excess of 25 times the amount of water to make each plastic bottle than the bottle contains. 300 million gallons of bottled water are imported to the United States yearly. This is unacceptable waste.

In America bottled water is often simply an indulgence. in spite of our justifications, it is not a harmless indulgence. Bottled water is an environmental nightmare. Three decades ago bottled water barely survived as a business in the United States. Today Americans spentd more on “designer” bottled water than we spent on sports tickets or iPods - $15 billion in 2007. The expected United States expenditure for bottled water will be $16 billion a year before the end of the decade.

As a nation we drink more than 30 billion single-serving bottles of water per year. Bottled water is the fastest growing beverage industry in the world, valued at $22 billion a year. Less than 15% of plastic bottles are recycled, the rest end up in the waste system and cost America’s major cities in excess of 70 million per year to handle processing and landfill expenditures. America yearly produces in excess of 800,000 tons of plastic bottle pollution that substantially magnifies global warming.

Last year, Americans threw away 38 billion plastic water bottles, about $1 billion worth of plastic. That’s an overwhelming waste, especially considering 1.5 million barrels of oil - enough to power 100,000 cars for a year - were consumed to manufacture these bottles. And that’s not even including the oil and gas required for shipping and delivering this massive volume of liquid.

If you are putting money into bottled water, you are basically purchasing plastic, which is manufactured from petroleum. When we buy a bottle of water, what we’re often purchasing is the bottle its self. One of the main problems with bottled water production is the reliance on fossil fuels. From packaging to transportation, bottled water relies on oil, using 17 million barrels of oil and producing massive amounts of carbon dioxide every year.

In the United States alone, we are hauling 1 billion liters of water around a week in trains, trucks, railcars and ships. That adds up to a weekly giant convoy equivalent to 37,800 18-wheelers. Water weighs over 8 pounds a gallon. Water is so very heavy you cannot fill an 18 wheeler with bottled water, you have to allow empty space.

There is an simple eco friendly solution. Tap water is much less expensive. As a reporter for the NY Times pointed out, almost all municipal water in America is so good that nobody needs to import a single bottle from Italy or France or the Fiji Islands.

Clean and safe drinking water should be public and affordable. The more the wealthy opt out of drinking tap water, the less political support there will be for investing in developing and maintaining America’s public water supply. That would be a serious loss.

Availability of inexpensive, pure water is basic to a countrys health. In Fiji, a state-of-the-art factory spins out more than a million bottles a day of the hippest bottled water on the American market, yet more than half the people in Fiji do not have a pure or dependable source of drinking water. This means it is easier for an American in Dallas or Boston to quench their thirst with refreshing Fiji water than it is for the majority of people in Fiji.

Should you elect to get your suggested eight to ten glasses a day from bottled water, you may spend up to $1,500 or more every year. An equal amount of tap water would cost pennies a day. Recent studies show that many brands of bottled water fail to meet industry guidelines and the cost of even poor quality bottled water can grow quite high.

Much of bottled water is only plain tap water. Many bottled water firms repackage tap water into plastic bottles, then sell them back to the consumer at prices higher than gasoline and increasing just as rapidly. Aquafina, as an example, has finally been pressured into amending its labels to advise consumers that Aquafina water comes from tap water. Why not just drink tap water? More than a quarter of bottled water is just processed tap water.

Plastic containers leach toxic chemicals. Have you considered why your plastic bottle of water has a label warning telling you not to reuse it? The longer you have that bottle, the more likely it is to leach toxic chemicals into your water.

There is a solution. If you are not confident in your local water supply or wish to safely filter tap water when on the go, carbon-filtered tap water os safer and costs much less than bottled water. According to the Environmental Working Group, carbon filtration of tap water will dramatically lower levels of toxic by products; it is also 10 to 20 times less expensive than bottled water, and does not produce the waste and pollution associated with the packaging and transport of bottled water.

A portable water filter is a perfect solution for water filtration on the go. A portable water filter allows anyone to filter their own water, no matter where they travel; across town or around the world. A portable water filter allows you to free yourself from any unpleasant taste, additives or contaminates while protecting the environment and your pocketbook. Get the whole family involved. A five member family could save well over $7,500.00 a year.

Stop being unwitting victims of manipulative advertising. When a entire industry is built up by overwhelming us with a product we do not need, when an entire industry is based on packaging and presentation, not the product, it is worth asking how that happened and what the future impact is upon our precious planet.

Mosquito 101

July 29th, 2008
by Dr. Green

Mosquitoes are out in force once again, and many consumers are faced with the difficult task of choosing the right insect repellent for their particular needs.

Will you be going hunting, fishing or camping anytime soon?

Do you live in a wooded area or somewhere near a lake or stream?

Do you have standing water on or around your property?

Are you flying to your final destination and can?t pack a liquid repellent in your luggage?

And, probably the most important question of all, do you have children that you must also consider?

I’ve found that in most cases, DEET, however successful it may have proven in the past, is overkill when it comes to keeping mosquitoes away. Yes, it is a proven method of repelling, but it is also a chemical that has proven to be dangerous and destructive on many levels. DEET is not only known for causing a number of health issues with the young and old, but it also has a reputation for melting buttons on clothing, watch faces and straps, fishing gear, golf grips and just about anything it comes into contact with. In fact, I once watched a girl hold a can of Coke after spreading DEET on her legs, and the red paint from the Coke can came right off on her hands!! Now that?s something to think about when you are about to put it on your skin!

There are a growing number of viable NATURAL and NON-LIQUID alternatives on the market that do just as good a job as DEET without any of the side effects or risk of damaging your favorite clothing and other gear.

This season, I took a personal interest in researching and testing a couple of these and looking very carefully at the testing associated with one particular product called Bug Bam (http://www.bugbam.com). Unfortunately I couldn?t get my hands on testing for the other products I was interested in, but Bug Bam was very transparent in providing me with their testing data, and I must say, it is very impressive.

To preface how Bug Bam works, let me explain the methods a mosquito uses to find us.

Mosquitoes analyze around 300 different scents that come off each of our bodies. From carbon dioxide to lactic acid, they can detect these scents up to 100 feet away and, as they come closer, they actually begin smelling our very skin. As each person smells differently, some people are more appealing to mosquitoes than others, but overall, mosquitoes are after our protein (blood), which they use to lay their eggs. And mosquitoes don?t actually bite, they have a long ?proboscus?, or needle nose, which they use to pierce the skin and ?suck? our blood.

DEET works by blocking the pores of our skin to prevent mosquitoes from finding us. Without fail, the DEET then goes into our bloodstream and, if used to often or too much, can seriously affect our health causing issues such as brain damage and sometimes even death.

Natural products-such as Bug Bam - work by releasing a scent that masks the wearers own scent from a mosquito. The mosquito smells the scent of the Bug Bam rather than the scent of a human, and goes elsewhere to find its food.

Female mosquitoes are the only ones that seek blood. Males (the larger mosquitoes we all see) only eat nectar from flowers.

The Bug Bam range has been proven by one of the foremost environmental research labs in the USA to repel for up to 100 hours, and the products range from wristbands (for personal use) to grids, which protect multiple people in an area up to 300 sq. ft. None of the Bug Bam products require the use of sprays, lotions, batteries, smoke, flames or power of any kind (however I did notice a fan, but have not had the chance to test it as yet).

Oh, and I forgot to mention, the Bug Bam range of products are waterproof and sweat-proof and contain ingredients and materials that are EPA approved and FDA approved as food grade. So there?s nothing to worry about if little Johnny decides he wants to swim with his Bug Bam or likes to chew on his cool new wristband.

So there you have it. Play it safe AND smart this bug season. If you really feel that nothing works for you as well as DEET, go right ahead. It IS the Gold Standard (whatever that means). But if you?re the type who wants to look after their health and well being, then a product like Bug Bam will do the job just as well.

Power Your Car with Hydrogen - Scam Or “Big-Oil Secret?

July 29th, 2008
by Matthew Loop, DC

Back in the 90’s, I did not think there would ever be a day that I would have to consider whether or not I wanted to each breakfast or whether I wanted to pay for gas. Back then, the cost of gas was only about 1/3rd the cost of coffee, and putting it in your car barely put even a small dent in your budget. Today, that is no longer the case, as oil companies have held their grip around the government’s neck and prevent any research to be done in how to bring these high gas prices back down.

The government is trying to stay out of it, assuming that the only solution is to let the market right itself. Unfortunately, for the market to right itself the oil industry couldn’t be purposely taking advantage of the oil shortage in order to make more money. If the high gas prices were due to the economy alone, gas would probably be much cheaper right now. And since citizens of the United States will never pay a tax hike large enough to help cover the cost of gasoline, the only real option is to run your car on water using newly created hydrogen technology.

If you stop and logically think about it, the only way gas prices are going to dip is if global demand for oil drops somehow. I mean world-wide demand would have to drop in a major way! Anything else will just make the situation worsen. But, what can we do to cut global demand? Obviously, it has to take a massive and immediate effort by all consumers to save gas. Three simple things you can do are changing the way you drive, purchase a hybrid car, or lastly… run your car on hydrogen technology. Hybrids are a bit lofty in price so I wouldn’t advise this option.

This method of harnessing hydrogen gas is known as HHO gas. HHO gas is essentially a particle of hydrogen that has been separated from water using a process known as electrolysis. The particle is then transferred into your car’s combustion, essentially doubling or tripling your car’s gas mileage. And rather than buy a new car or perform some serious engine changes, all you need to do is turn your old car into a hydrogen based hybrid car.

Since this is not pure hydrogen - rather it is a hydrogen particle taken from water - there is no danger to adding this to your engine. You are improving your gas mileage, but you are doing so without risking the safety of you or your car. All you have is a makeshift hybrid car that gets significantly better gas mileage.

What it comes down to is that this involves harnessing one of the most plentiful resources on the planet. I’m speaking of water, of course! Water has two molecules of hydrogen and one of oxygen. When a small electrical current is fused into this molecule, it becomes broken down into its separate parts. This simple conversion apparatus takes the hydrogen and oxygen molecules and converts them both to HHO gas, or Brown’s gas.

This HHO gas goes into your car or truck’s combustion engine and adds a tremendous amount of extra miles to your car. In addition, this type of gas is far cleaner burning than the gasoline alternative, and once it is used it simply gets converted back into water.

Hydrogen technology is someday going to completely run cars. It is a renewable resource that can be found covering 66% of the earth. But until the day that hydrogen technology is used instead of gasoline, you can still save a great deal of money at the pump as well as harm the environment less if you start using an HHO gas supplement now.

The Controversy of the Water Fueled Car

July 26th, 2008
by Longing Canister

Technology has long been changed by science fiction. Controversy has long been a known effect brought on by authors. The inception of many of the technological advances based upon a science fiction novel has been controversial.

Space travel was dreamed of by stargazers throughout the ages. From Copernicus to Gene Roddenberry, people have dreamed of worlds further in space than our own. However much people wished to know, when it became possible, the people fought against it.

Religious sects used their powers to defame space travel just as environmentalists have been fighting water-fuelled cars. The abundance of the resource does not matter to them. They will still claim that if we use the water, just as we have been coal, wood and petrol, we will use it all up and our grandchildren will live in a desolate world.

This claim is not possible since the world is 70% water and it replenishes daily. The water that goes through the engines dissipates into the air and becomes rain again. The water that goes through the engine then becomes drinking water, ocean water and fuel again.

This fight over the water has been fought for years. People have been fighting the use of water since the inception of the water driven electricity power plants. The water is being polluted is the claim these people are making.

It is true that a percentage of the water has been found to have pollutants in it after it is used as a fuel. However, there are treatment plants along the rivers to clean any pollutants found in the power plant water. This does not clean the water completely.

To ensure that the people and animal life of the world do not die away steps have been taken throughout the time when water first became fuel. For those who are fighting against the use of water-fuelled cars, this is the main fear. The government has taken precautions to not allow it, therefore it could be possible.

Another controversy derived from the idea of using water to fuel cars is the controversy created by the oil companies. Oil companies fear becoming obsolete if the water-fuelled cars can replace them. If there is a way to run a car on water, then there is a way to run home electricity on water and other things that require oil.

This controversy is a mostly hidden one that mainly exists covertly or in congress. There are lobbyists whose main source of employment is the blocking of patents and laws allowing the use of water as a main energy source. So far the lobbyists have been able to keep the water fuel referendums under their control.

This control is slowly being taken away as Japanese inventors have found a way to use water as a fuel for vehicles. As a country, Japan has been able to find ways to advance technology that other countries have only dreamed of. The first truly water-fuelled vehicle is being invented.

The patent for this vehicle is still under scrutiny and has yet to be given to the Japanese company requesting it. The controversy keeping this water-fuelled vehicle under wraps will not last long. Once the company has the patent, this patent will be publicly seen and the controversy will be over.

Whats The Story With The Car Running On Water?

by Loosey Goosey

The definition of a water-fuelled car is a vehicle that runs on a motor that is fuelled without any other energy source than water. The compound of water is made of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. The use of water to make a fuel has, up to this point in time, been simply a science fiction dream.

A common belief of water-fuelled vehicles is that a form of this is a steam engine. This is not true as the steam engine uses wood or coal to heat up the water to form steam. That fuel source is then the wood or coal not the water.

Water is not an easy substance to convert into fuel, as it is a waste product not a substance that can be burned. Substances that can be burned, such as wood or petrol, emit energy from the burning. That change from unstable bonds to stable bonds cannot be applied to water, as water is already a stable bond.

The only two ways that water can truly become a fuel is either by adding a high-energy compound to it or by electrolysis. Adding a high-energy compound to water allows it to be converted into energy through releasing its bonds. Electrolysis is a change of water to energy by introducing electricity to the water.

This electrical charge placed in the water separates the bonds. The hydrogen in the bond is then used as the energy source. It would take quite a bit of power to separate enough water bonds to create energy.

The size and power of a battery powerful enough to run a vehicle from the electrolysis of water is so immense that it is not a probable solution. The efficiency of the conversion using electrolysis is between 50-70%, however the power of the hydrogen would be only about 30%. Therefore, it would be more efficient to simply run the vehicle from the power of the battery.

The first and second laws of thermodynamics have barred many inventors’ ideas from becoming reality. These laws have reduced many inventions into the classification of perpetual motion vehicles instead of true water-fuelled vehicles. In addition, many have discovered the true fuel behind the so-called water-fuelled vehicles were actually other sources, due to the two thermodynamics laws.

Many men have tried many different variations to overcome the power of the thermodynamics laws. However, each has failed. Within these failures, two very notable men claimed to have discovered the truth behind water-based fuel.

Stanley Meyers’ creation has gone down in history books as a hoax. He had claimed to invent the first true water-fuelled car but it was discovered that he hadn’t invented anything new. His “patent” subtly overlooked describing how water was the fuel of the vehicle.

The machine he created was simply a perpetual motion machine and nothing more. Henry Garrett on the other hand had created a vehicle that was run by water. However, his invention was not the engine itself but a carburetor, therefore the actual energy source was the battery.

There have been reports in many magazines and newspapers about a Japanese invention that is a water-fuelled engine. It does not have a patent as of yet. Once the patent is given, then it will be discovered whether this is a true water-fuelled engine or just another reinvention of the wheel.

Auto Turned Hybrid Runs On Water With Kit

An abundance of resources for human use is on this Earth. Sitting idly in the oceans is the most abundant of these resources, water. A way to use this water to make a cleaner and cheaper fuel is closer than we have ever thought.

In science fiction novels and movies, the water-fuelled car has been a standard. Many writers have found it to be the most fictional item they could create. They believed this because it seemed so implausible to make a reality.

To generate a feeling of the futuristic and fantastic, authors like H. G. Wells, Isaac Asimov, and Piers Anthony have used these vehicles in their stories. The thought of the water-fuelled car seemed so preposterous to them because of the laws of thermodynamics. Little did they know, right on the horizon was the water-fuelled car.

Fuel made from water is much cleaner and safer for the environment. It would seem we would never run out with the abundance of this resource. Constant drilling of our lands would end saving our wildlife.

The atmosphere has long been deteriorating due to the chemicals that are put out by the burning of petrol. This is killing our world and creating a global warming effect. This will cause our world to see another ice age or worse.

Such harmful chemicals will not be generated using the water to create fuel. This will stop the drilling and polluting that comes with the fuels we are using now. The planet will then become healthy again.

Travel will also be easier with water-fuelled engines. It can then be regulated to airplanes, trains and boats, once it has been implemented into cars. The best vehicle to own, by then, will be a boat that runs on water due to a never-ending source of fuel.

For centuries, the science fiction authors have been giving inventors ideas. An enthusiastic writer created the telephone, the airplane and the elevator long before they were created physically. The creator of “Star Trek,” Gene Roddenberry, created inventions that have become reality since the beginning of his show in the 1960’s.

The inventions taken from science fiction writers have taken years to complete. It took centuries before Leonardo Di Vinci’s idea of a helicopter became a reality. Well before it was ever a possibility, space travel was dreamed up by Copernicus.

Many of the electronic devices thought up by science fiction authors have been first physically created by the Japanese. The Japanese used Gene Roddenberry’s idea for a wireless phone and created the cell phone. The Japanese have, yet again, advanced science fiction with the creation of a water-fuelled car.

Though the actual making of a water-fuelled car is incredibly hard, it has been done. A company in Japan is working on getting a patent for their concept. Once they have the patent, it should not be many years before we are driving these water-fuelled cars.
